Leadership

Servant Leadership:  With Christ as our example, we believe in servant leadership within our church.  Our leaders serve the community of Christ here at First Christian and within the broader community through our ministries.  Our elders, deacons and trustees are elected by the church members.  Men, women and youth are all encouraged to serve in any capacity in which they feel called.  We encourage the development of spiritual gifts through prayer and study together.  We strive to work together and to recognize each person and the individual gifts they have.

Church Board:  Our board includes elders, deacons, trustees, and committee chair-persons.  The board meets once a month and is open to any member who would like to attend.  We are a self-governing body working together to discern God's leading for our congregation.

Elders:  Elders are called to be teachers, shepherds, celebrators of the Lord’s Supper, church leaders. Our elders serve on committees, assist in leading worship and at the Lord's table.  They look out for the general welfare of the congregation both spiritual and physical.

Deacons:  Deacons are called to be leaders who attend to the physical and logistical needs of the congregation and well as to spiritual needs.  They serve on committees, and serve as greeters on Sunday morning and assist the elders in preparing communion and visiting the shut-ins.

Members:  Every member can lead and serve the Lord at FCC.  Some members take care of the yard, teach Sunday School, work with our children and youth, participate in study groups, call those who are shut-in, sing in the choir, deliver food to the food pantry, and so much more.  We lead with our hands, our hearts, and our offerings of working together in the name of Christ.
